En collaboration avec Parcs Canada et Le Corridor Culturel de Griffintown, la plateforme de création Urban Occupations Urbaines présente Infestation, une installation artistique de Linda Swanson. Un millier de limaces en céramique grandeur réelle envahiront le secteur du bassin Peel au canal de Lachine du 17 au 25 septembre prochains.
En désirant mettre en valeur la fertilité culturelle du quartier industriel historique de Montréal, la présence inusitée et la matérialité de ces limaces en céramique visent à susciter une réflexion contemplative sur le renouvellement et la régénération urbaine ainsi que sur les liens possibles entre la nature, la culture, l’industrie et l’histoire de ce secteur.

In association with Parcs Canada and Le Corridor Culturel de Griffintown, the creative platform Urban Occupations Urbaines presents Linda Swanson‘s Infestation. 1000 life size ceramic slugs will be installed at the Lachine Canal Basin Historic Site between September 17th and 25th. In the spirit of promoting the cultural fertility of Montreal’s historic industrial district, the curious presence and materiality of these ceramic slugs is an effort to rouse a contemplative reflection on the processes of urban regeneration and renewal, and the potential connections between the natural, cultural, industrial and historical aspects of the area.
