darlingARCADE est une boutique qui abrite une collection spéciale de boîtes à chaussures contenant des scènes miniatures inspirées du paysage culturel changeant de Griffintown. Installation interactive conçue par les artistes montréalais Stephen Lawson et Aaron Pollard de 2boys.tv, darlingARCADE est interprétéé par artistes Judith Bauer, Joanna Donehower, Natalie Doonan, Maya Ersan, Andre Fry, Shauna Janssen, Jason Knight, Jonathan Lemieux, Allison Moore, Skid More, Jesse Orr, Arthur Desmarteaux, Rebecca Spencer, Shereen Soliman, Mark Sussman, and Kathleen Vaughan.
darlingARCADE fonctionne comme une œuvre d’art participative qui conteste les perceptions locales d’espaces urbains oubliés, ce qui permet aux spectateurs de s’interroger sur ce qui est vrai et de créer et faire proliférer leurs propres réalités construites sur ces sites.
L’installation darlingARCADE est présentée en collaboration avec la Fonderie Darling. Ce centre d’art contemporain situé dans le district de Griffintown abritera la boutique darlingARCADE à l’occasion des Journées de la culture de Montréal qui se dérouleront du 30 septembre au 2 octobre 2011.
À Montréal depuis 2002, Stephen Lawson et Aaron Pollard ont créé et présenté à l’échelle nationale et internationale un impressionnant répertoire mettant en scène cabarets multimédias épiques, performances, vidéos et installations qui explorent les relations entre la performance, l’illusion, l’imitation et l’authenticité au coeur d’environnements métaphoriques, technologiques, spatiaux et immersifs.

darlingARCADE is a retail outlet that holds a special collection of shoeboxes containing miniature scenes inspired by Griffintown’s changing cultural landscape. An interactive installation conceived by Montreal artists Stephen Lawson and Aaron Pollard – 2boys.tv - darlingARCADE is interpreted by artists Judith Bauer, Joanna Donehower, Natalie Doonan, Maya Ersan, Andre Fry, Jason Knight, Shauna Janssen, Jonathan Lemieux, Allison Moore, Skid More, Jesse Orr, Arthur Desmarteaux, Rebecca Spencer, Shereen Soliman, Mark Sussman, and Kathleen Vaughan. A group exhibition, darlingARCADE performs as a participatory artwork that challenges local perceptions of forgotten urban spaces, allowing spectators to question what is true, and to create and proliferate their own constructed realities about these locales.
The installation of the darlingARCADE is presented in association with the Darling Foundry. This contemporary art centre, located in the Griffintown district serves as the location for the darlingARCADE boutique during Montreal’s Journée de la culture: September 30 to October 2nd 2011.
Based in Montréal, since 2002, Stephen Lawson and Aaron Pollard have created and toured, nationally and internationally, a wide repertoire of epic multimedia cabaret works, performances, videos and installations that explore the intersections of performance, illusion, imitation and authenticity within metaphorical, technological and immersive spatial environments.
